The long idle stretch lets dust settle on burners and flame sensors, and the sudden sustained demand exposes every weak part at once. The freezes are rare, but they hit every house on the block at the same time, which is exactly when repair schedules fill up. That is why we treat the pre-season tune-up as the real heating service and the emergency repair as the thing it is meant to prevent.
What We Handle on a Furnace

- Diagnosis across the full startup sequence
A gas furnace runs a strict safety sequence: thermostat call, inducer motor, pressure switch, igniter, gas valve, flame sensor, blower. A fault anywhere shuts the system down by design, so we work the sequence to find where it breaks. - Combustion and venting inspection
Burners, flame sensor, igniter, flame color, and flue. A yellow or flickering flame signals incomplete combustion, which is a safety issue rather than a comfort issue. - Heat exchanger assessment
Cracks can let combustion gases into the air stream, so the heat exchanger gets a careful look on any older or short-cycling furnace. It is also the component that most often decides repair versus replace. - Pre-season cleaning, adjustment and safety testing
Cleaning the blower motor and burner, adjusting components and checking airflow, and testing for carbon monoxide before the heating season starts. - Replacement and new installation
Sizing to the home rather than to the old unit, installation to local code and manufacturer specification, and Armstrong Air and Lennox equipment matched to the house. - The electrical side of the furnace
Breaker, circuit, transformer, control board, and blower motor. On an electric furnace the heating elements and sequencers are electrical throughout, and we hold the electrical license to work on all of it.
